As part of Aberdeen Presbytery’s Partnership Agreement with Blantyre City Presbytery in Malawi, we are twinned with Chigodi Church and this has been a very real experience of developing friendships with and commitment to those in another land. Five members of the congregation have been involved in visits to Malawi, and we have welcomed four representatives from Chigodi Church in the past years, giving and receiving hospitality.
There is regular email communication between the Session Clerks and a fund is maintained to support the twinning. Financial support has been given to Chigodi Church to enable their building to be completed and dedicated in November 2011.
In the Summer of 2015 as part of a delegation from Aberdeen Presbytery, our minister, Rev Peter Johnston, spent two weeks in Malawi, part of which time was spent with our brothers and sisters in Chigodi. For some reflections on that trip please see https://sway.com/o4CCr_fTGBfN31z0 for his online blog from the journey. A video reflection on the experience is available below.
